Fairly self explanatory poll - do you buy gold or silver using a credit card?
If yes, why?

Yes. For the points. But you got to be careful not to over spend.

Sometimes I do, only using the interest free period and then paying it off before interest is charged.

I pay cash or send money by direct debit for bullion because it the cheapest way to buy silver or gold bullion. Dealers charge extra if you pay by credit card.
Gold and silver coins from Downies and the Perth Mint have always been paid with credit card.
Also whenever I pay for coins or bullion purchases on ebay; Paypal charges to my credit card.

Yes and no. I only buy using my credit card if I purchase from eBay or online store. Most of my online purchases are numismatic ones.

No, because my local dealer charges extra for CC transactions!

On ebay the Paypal is linked to the credit card but mostly i've done direct debit or paid cash at the mint. Other than the Perth Mint, i've never walked in to a dealer's shop and made a purchase. I wish there were more dealers in my city.

No, mosly cash. Don't really want anyone knowing about my stash, especially the Banks. No sinister intentions, i just don't really trust the Banks or Government much these days.

I'm with PerthStack on that score. Just a little paranoid is all and I really don't like the idea of credit cards at all (beyond a direct debit card).
I'm more of a cash and carry or direct deposit buyer myself.

Yes when buying from online stores.
If there's a problem like non-delivery you can dispute the transaction and get a refund from the card services company.

after paying all the bills ect and we dont have much Fiat left....she tells me i spend all our money on stupid metal....(she wants new clothes)
And she wants me to put $50 or more in the the money box....I tell her by the time the money box is full the silver/gold we have bought will be woth more then fiat we have been saving....
I get her back on track when we get silver/gold laid out and tell her how much it cost and how much its worth now....gotta love gold/silver p0rn

I have no problems with my wife concerning PMs. She's a clever cookie and understands the value of baseline metals in the larger picture.
Since we were locked out of the housing market in 1995 in Sydney, we have no where else to put our extra fiat that gives us any confidence moving ahead.
She ummed and ahhed about PMs until I pressed a silver coin in her hand.
Now I can pretty much buy what I want.
Yes, I'm a lucky guy (and she can COOK as well!)![]()

Re: my recent experiences at the Perth Mint shop:
- CC: Perth Mint charges a 3% surcharge on CC purchases. At least, that's what I was told yesterday when I went in (there were two or three customer service officers getting involved and most of them seemed confused about this point).
- EFTPOS: $1,000 limit (but my annoying bank has a $800 per day limit so that's all I could spend).
- Online bank transfer: For my last large purchase I got a "Fulfilment of Suspense Sale" Tax Invoice, so I picked out what I wanted and they kept it aside, and then I had to go home and do an Internet transfer using online banking. The money was in their account the next day, but I had to wait an additional 7 days after that before I could pick up my items! Grrr.
My next tactic is I'm going to try ordering by phone, get them to e-mail me an invoice, and pay via BPay. I'll also ask if I can pick my order up in person at the Perth Mint Shop rather than have them deliver it.
