what would cause this?

this is a 1/2 oz colored tiger that has a green mark on it.

is it a stain or did something go wrong with the coloring process?

Did you buy this from the mint direct? Im thinking their QA dept needs some work.

no, i bought a bunch of these from gainsville coins in the usa but i suspect it left the mint like this.

Looks like a QA issue. You could try flipping it on eBay as an error, but being a colour error (i.e. not an aligmnent printing issue) means that you can't discount the possibility of someone "faking" a similar error with chemicals etc.

Yeah I bet some bleach could do something like that to a coloured coin.

List it on ebay as an error coin.
You will be surprised who would pay for this and probably worth the risk of listing it up
as opposed to returning it.
