Boosting the size of a Silver Stack with Aluminium Bars

I was experimenting with casting Aluminium bars yesterday, I liked the look of them because they looked like silver bars.

So today was thinking about building a stack to look like a silver stack for just a few bucks.

Stacked up it would look no different to any silver bar stack and would be fun, they could also be engraved and used as personal gifts, like a paperweight or pen holder.

Check out the video and tell me what you think

Doesn't it take very high temperatures to melt Al, and even higher to remain liquid enough to pour ?

I'm assuming you would need a few grand of equipment to be capable of pouring your own Al bars ....

You're right.
I was thinking of the energy needed to smelt from Bauxite ore.

Re: Boosting the size of a Silver Stack with Aluminium Bars

Melting point of Al is 660C and your right in assuming it needs to be even hotter to pour which is why i took it to 710C
Same when I melt copper, melting point is 1084C but I pour at 1160

I believe even a backyard a wood fired furnace is good enough for melting Aluminium, can kill two birds that way, make Al bars and fry up some snags.
