They also recently were fined by the ACCC for those shoddy nurofen packets they claimed targeted different specific ailments and charged more than twice as much for compared to "regular" ibuprofen.

Yeah, but over charging for pannadol and killing 100 people is slightly different.

The presiding judge said, if the law allowed it he would have given them longer sentences.

It was more than overcharging....they packaged exactly the same product different ways claiming they targeted different things.
Even when this was identified and proven they continued to sell them until ordered by the courts several months later to remove from shelves/ discontinue false advertising practices.

Yes it is like buying black and gold sugar at $1 kilo or CSR sugar at $4 kilo, for the same sugar stored in the same storage just packaged differently from the same sugar factory.

people do that with many things allready e.g Milk is the most common

$4 for a Pauls 2L milk where it comes from the same cows / factory processor as the $2 Coles homee brand.

By my reckoning then it should be 52 cents.

Edit to add: but that's not taking into consideration the price of the water.

Re: Makers of Neurofen jailed for 7 years for killing 100

$2 milk is over priced. Milk should be less than 1.50 at shops.

If farmers can't make a go from 50c a litre they should sell the farm and get a job at a toothpaste factory screwing on caps.

The only reason to go dairy farming instead of cattle farming, if your going to go broke you may as well doing something, instead of just watching the grass grow

The issue with the drug is not comparible to either your milk or your sugar examples.
The pricing of the item was insignificant compared to the false claims surround it.

Nah land is too expensive to farm.

But I've been buying and eyeing some more victorian dairy farms, not to dairy though.

Some smart ones but too many don't have a clue.

It's cheap because Coles and Woolies strong-arm their suppliers into accepting artificially low wholesale prices.

I never buy their brand, preferring to pay another dollar for something the farmers can actually make a living on.. and know many people who do the same.

Milk should be cheaper, there is a global glut and Australia has a milk lake that no one wants.
if you want to subsidise bad farmers that's your choice, any diary farmer that can't make a living off producing milk should stop and do something else.
