The Earth is flat?

http://www.google.com.au/search?safe=st … flat+earth

All to do with horizon & distances & perspective.

Why can I see something over 50 kilometers away if the curvature of the Earth should make that object beyond the horizon?

Please discuss. ?.....

Check out calculation of long range missile projection.
The earth is not flat roll
Also, check out the moon's shadows all year round. Your own eyes will not lie for this one.
The earth is not flat roll
Shall I go on smile

The one I can't perceive is the world spins at great speeds...........I would like to be enlighten though.............

Re: The Earth is flat?

The flat Earthers do come up with some very interesting arguments and I sometimes enjoy reading their theories for entertainment but they are all invariably flawed.
The simplest explanation I turn to is the humble bubble.
Gravity seems to naturally form mass into a sphere, to me a bubble is a very good visible demonstration of how mass behaves.
If the flat Earthers can demonstrate to me how to form a flat bubble they may gain a minuscule amount of credibility.
I will not be holding my breath while waiting for this demonstration of how gravity works in only two dimensions rather than three.

I disagree with your gravity ball theory, try jumping of something tall and I'm pretty sure gravity will help make you as flat as a pancake

Stand at the base of a mountain, why can't you see 50km away?

WTB 4 to 6 grams of pure gold. Don't care if it is coin, bar or granules. Near spot, suits anyone who has been tempted to open a certicard or just have some granules to make a ring

All those nut cases that want to believe the Earth is flat can easily do what this teen did with a camera and balloon which would easily and quickly wipe any thought off their dumb minds that the Earth is flat. But they don't.

Please tell me what you can see 50km away. That is, your coordinates and what you believe you are looking at 50km into the distance. Sure, if you're standing at high elevation you can see further than if you were lying face down on the ground. I was fascinated by this just the other day- apparently, if you're at sea level standing, you can see about 5km into the distance. I always thought it was about 30km. neutral

Curved or dished is still flat with the "flat only referring to not a sphere.

You can see more or less into the horizon depending on where you're at above sea level.

"For an observer on the ground with eye level at h = 5 ft 7 in (1.70 m), the horizon is at a distance of 2.9 miles (4.7 km). For an observer standing on a hill or tower 100 feet (30 m) in height, the horizon is at a distance of 12.2 miles (19.6 km)."

However, math was created by the devil or possible Exxon Mobile so its probably biased.

The best argument I can drum up is if the Earth is flat then show me a picture of the edge.

Gravity? science knows what it does but still doesn't know what it is? this shocked me to learn.

When was the last time you see a picture of the entire earth from space that was not a collage of binary numbers given a scientific interpretation  then layered with colours? Can anyone link me to a real picture.

Show me a picture of the earth that is is a complete spear that is not an interpretation of  binary data.

Why can you see a ship more than 2.9 miles away from the shore? it should have vanished over the horizon.

Re: The Earth is flat?

To accept the concept of  "space"  requires the acceptance of the concept of "non space"

It takes "time" to travel through space.
It takes "no time" to travel through non space.

In theory if the earth was not a globe or sphere but dished (flat) you could not reach the end.

The rods and cones in your eyes are turning the vibrations caused by electromagnetic waves bumping into your receptor cells into an electronic signal which your brain interprets as activated/not active. Or a 1 and 0. Electrical force or No Force.

Show me any instance of reality that's not an interpretation of binary data.

Re: The Earth is flat?

Anektavata - It's an Indian term which means that all things are true from different perspectives

If you look at the Earth it will appear flat because we are so small compare to it
If you look at the Earth from space it will appear round because it actually is
If you look at the Earth from a 4th dimensional view it will look like a cone

They are all right.

It's a three dimensional holographic projection from a two dimensional disk or something like that.

It's actually quite a complex scientific argument that I think started with research into black hole thermodynamics:

Re: The Earth is flat?

Still no true photographic pictures of the whole earth link?

I am starting to believe there are none and never have been any!

Scientists will never know what gravity "is".

The "axis of evil CMB" has turned science and cosmology upside down a bit  with the cosmic microwave background or CMB focused on and through earths equator from all directions in space possibly making it the centre of the entire universe.

Science is now trying to disprove its own findings to fit with their previous theories/models that the earth is just a random planet in the universe, problem is they cant because the entire theory relied on CMB going in all and every direction throughout the universe. lol

Reminds me of over funded climate change scientists who cant prove man made climate change but we must all accept man made climate change is real!
