Sounds like some mug sent it to the return address. They may have you identified as someone to toy with.

The local LPO I used to use, entered items as "delivered" when they received them, then entered them as delivered again when I picked them up. I had an item sitting there for a couple of weeks and only discovered how their system worked by accident. Then I got them to search their shelves: lo and behold, there it was. I'm sure the seller thought I was scamming them and that my explanation probably didn't make me seem any more honest. Not sure how this would have gone if the item had been genuinely lost between entering the PO and being picked up.

Other than that, in all of the years I have been getting parcels from all over the world (must be thousands of them) I have only ever had one not show up (actually two, but I'm convinced one of them was never sent). One however, did take a trip by way of Mount Isa getting to Mount Austin, postcode not remotely similar and very clear handwriting.

Re: The "Australia Post" Thread

Originally I thought that express would have less problems, usually I'd receive express in mostly 1 business days & sometimes 2 business days, worst was platinum express when the driver said there was no one home & left a card @ 4:30pm once & 5:45pm the 2nd time when i was clearly waiting for it & driver never showed up, i had to go to LPO next day to collect without the card, told the LPO what happened & they said it was a new driver, happened to me a few times when they could not make it but said no one home,

Last 3 express post satchels all took 2 days to reach destination when next business day delivery
was promised. Not just a one off but 3 in a row.

"Got the coin, thankyou. It was left in a strange place.." (msg from eBay buyer)

Wizard of OzPost trying to lose another coin for me that would result in another eBay Money Back guarantee claim. It's amazing that they dare charge at all - the bloke next door could do a better job, it would seem.

Looks like the Aussie Post is trying to outdo the US Postal Service for worst delivery service in the solar system!

Apparently Germany is the worst yikes
They got bought out by DHL yikes
And care factor zero apparently
I know of 1 bullion dealer who lost $14k the buyer claiming he didn't receive the coin roll

I believe there is room for a private general mail /parcel business to compete with austpost. Can some entrepreneur with the money to start it up please do so soon

Re: The "Australia Post" Thread

After 3000 ebay transactions buying and selling only had one lost item.... A magazine worth about $10.  I have noticed delivery times getting slower though. Express Posts often arriving in 2 business days. Worst case was a satchel sent from Melbourne to Bundoora took 2 weeks to arrive!

Re: The "Australia Post" Thread

For those not sure what can be send via Australia Post, the following Australia Post Dangerous and Prohibited Goods and Packaged Guide may be of interest:

http://auspost.com.au/media/documents/d … ov2015.pdf

Extract of Dangerous and Prohibited Goods and Packing Guide:

"D3.2 – Banknotes and coins

Banknotes are currency notes that are legal tender in the country of issue. Australian notes of whatever age, currency or denomination are legal tender within Australia.

Coins are coinage in either Australian or foreign currency and includes coins made from precious metals whether or not such coins have a denomination.

Australia Post prohibits banknotes or currency notes and coins in:

• the International Post
• all services within Australia, except Registered Post, or a parcel service in conjunction with Extra Cover and Signature on Delivery.

In Registered Post or parcel services when used in conjunction with Extra Cover and Signature on Delivery within Australia, Australia Post accepts banknotes or coins to a maximum face value of A$200 in any one consignment.

However, Australia Post accepts no liability for the loss of or damage to any such articles containing banknotes.j

D3.3 – Bullion

Bullion is lump or bulk metal, pure or impure, refined or unrefined. Bullion includes ingots but excludes manufactured items, such as jewellery.
Australia Post prohibits bullion in all services."

Re: The "Australia Post" Thread

Are there any issues at Chullora, NSW?

I have had a package there since 29th September.

Posted on 26th September and should have arrived in QLD by Friday 30th.

What's the weather like down that way?
