Re: The Price Check Thread.

What kind of price should one be paying for 5, 10 and 15 Ruble gold coins 1880-1917? I was trying to get an idea by by looking at eBay prices but they vary, sometimes by as much as $150 USD. Thanks in advance for any help.

To Currawong

5, 10 & 15 roubles prices vary in the extreme.  Best you try Google for which Auction house is selling.  I have seen prices for the 10 rouble coin from  $A450 to $A670 and some dates are even more varied.  Yet talked to a Lady at a dealer today & she said they do not resell fractional coins but send straight to the smelters.  The GST on them makes a resale very difficult according to Her.  Go Figure.

Best of luck.   My guess is melt + 20 to 30% would sell here.

cheers
John

Thanks, yeah $650 to $700 was about what I thought. It's a shame they just melt them down tbh. I'm surprised about rubles not selling though because for spot +10 to 20% id snap them up. They're great coins, right up there with sovereigns and francs in my opinion. Even the chervonets are nice coins.

Re: The Price Check Thread.

Price check please...

I have this ACT $10 sterling silver in original card with one big difference. The coin was sealed inside the card the wrong way around. The page that says 'Reverse' actually shows the obverse of the coin and vice versa.

From what I can see, there has been no tampering with the card, I believe this to be a mint packaging error.

Is this a rare one of a kind? Any estimate on price?

$90

That's my uninformed opinion of the price, NOT an offer or expression of interest in buying one!! (Sorry, I didn't make that clear before!)
