Re: What's the best beer?

I picked up two random beers tonight. Storm Trooper Imperial Pilsner, and this other one, I have no idea what it is... what is "hop transfusion IPA?"

Anyway, I will soon know...

Re: What's the best beer?

Big A.D. - I don't know if it was on your list, but the Little Creatures Return of the Dread is really good. (Monteith's Doppel Black however is so frickin bad that I just gave it back to the barman).

Yes, now you mention it I had a few of those at the Pyrmont Point a few weeks back. ABV is 7%ish but it wasn't boozy at all.

Re: What's the best beer?

Had a stubby of each over the last two days:

Montieths Black Beer - just like Tooheys Old, if you like Tooheys Old you can buy 2 stubbies of that, for what 1 stubby of Montieths BB will cost you.
Moo Brew, very fruity, great head, tasted like tinned pears and smokey to me, brewer reckons it should taste like bananas and cloves. A good beer to start a session but you'd only want 1. Girls could drink this beer.
Two Birds Golden Ale, great head, great flavour, this is a beer you could drink a 6 pack of.
Two Birds Sunset Ale, dark beer, the one I poured had a weak head (may have just been a dirty glass?), you could drink 2 -3 of these before getting the urge for something different.

A strawberry jam beer I'm making. It's about 9% ABV at the moment and should top out at about 12%.

I needed something with a high level of fermentable content and the jam is 57% sugar, so it's perfect. And on sale for 69c/jar big_smile

No hops. Blend of bog standard baker's yeast and WLP065.

If you know what that is, you know why I'm making this wink

I picked up a six of this stuff today.  Tastes wonderful but is too damn strong (8.5%).  I really like the IPA's but gotta be careful.

Nice.

Jim, if you haven't already tried it, get your hands on Golden Road - Heal the Bay IPA. Still a bit sticky at 6.8% but finishes nice and dry. Classic West Coast.

Comes in a pint can too.
