Ha pretty much, when it gets warmer I'll switch to pilsner, IPA etc.
BeerLao is probably my favourite Asian summertime beer.

Re: What's the best beer?

Anybody tasted Snow? Apparently it's the best selling beer... in the world.

1. Snow
2. Tsingtao
3. Bud Light (srs?)
4. Bud
5. Skol
6. Yanjing
7. Heineken
8. Harbin
9. Brahma
10. Coors Light
Bloomberg

Haven't even seen 4 of these before

Re: What's the best beer?

love me some dark beer - great suggestions so far!
I'll recommend;
- Murry's dark knight porter
- Chimay blue cap

on the lighter side of beer;
- Lord Nelson three sheets pale ale
- Cricketers arms spear head pale ale

For me a beer needs to drinkable ..... for a session. I don't like most craft and premium beers (e.g. Stella) because after 2 or 3 the taste they leave in you mouth after each sip just makes you wanna stop drinking.

VB is still near the top of the tree for me together with other easy drinking beers like Corona, Heineken, Asahi, etc. I really like Singha too when in Thailand and from my home country - Sagres is a nice beer.

I wouldn't even open the link to those beer rating sites that someone posted earlier. Without looking I'd imagine its just a bunch of toffs trying to outdo each other with their beer appreciation palate. Its a turtle-heading beer not a work of art. Drink it cold and enjoy the refreshment - no need for bullshit analysis on the hops, barley or hipster points.

Re: What's the best beer?

Rodenbach Grand Cru from Flanders is one of the best beers I've ever had. Flemish Red-Brown Ale is something that's quite different to any other type of beer. Geuze's and sours are just something we don't get into in Australia, but are delicious. I'm also partial to the standard VB, Carlton, Guinness etc.

Or you could keep drinking that mass produced cats piss that is trying to imitate beer. Seriously all those crap beers you posted taste exactly the same. And they must be drunk at about 3 degrees so you can't taste anything anyway.

Beer has two purposes for me:

1. Refreshment - refer bolded above. 3 degree beer on a hot day after some physical work. MAGIC!!!
2. Drinking session - as explained above the tangy, craft, hipster beers are no good for this (for me anyway)

I have no interest in drinking beers to prove the refinement of my palate or my sophistication.

I'm not much of a beer drinker but don't mind Coopers Pale Ale, Coopers mild ale (love the sediment) and Hoegaarden. Different strokes for different folks. If I can't find these, it's good old faithful Emu Export king brown wink

That's interesting. I like Coopers Pale Ale, but can't stand Hoegaarden. I've never tried Emu.

I tried Redoak Pale Ale recently and it was quite good.

What's the general opinion on Pure Blonde? Thanks to the name I thought it was just some wanky bullshit beer, but I tried a pint very recently and it seemed quite reasonable.

I haven't had it in a while, but I remember my opinion was basically "Meh. <shrug>". Not crap, not exciting, not moreish.

Was not expecting BeerLao to make the list but it is such a surprising little number and the most moreish of the Asian beers.
