Re: What's the best beer?

Some amazing suggestions here for beers I have never tried!  I went overboard on the Mango beer previously. Its a nice one for summer.

Good choice.

I'm also very fond of Corona, but for some reason it gives me a bad headache the next day.

Drink heavier beers instead of clear light color types. Stouts and heavy darker ales.

Coopers Original is a top example. Turn before opening, sediment is yummy and you wont get a banging headache, as long as you allow for the higher alc content and dont go overboard.

Been home from work for about an hour or so, finished two Kilkennies, smoked a Don Felo Felitos (a bit strong for my tastes but maybe because I was drinking Killers) and finished it off with a Coles brand Almond classic mini.

Fkn tastebuds have been assaulted! hmm

Enjoyed a night out at Beer Deluxe in Fed Square recently. Was enjoying the WEIHENSTEPHAN HEFE ALCOHOL FREE. Here's their beer bible.

Re: What's the best beer?

I get stuck into my favourites when in Japan. They have it totally sorted:

First up, I love these things, because you only need a couple to get muted (note the volume big_smile ). Also, they make a turtling cool sound when they drop in a vending machine. lol  The handles are "handy" for a decent grip, especially when finishing off your second one. Kirin also produces these. cool

Second one is Anchor "strong" (Singapore/Malaysia). Note the alcohol %. These things get you ripped. wink

Anything is possible, but not everything is probable.  wink

Manipulation..... If you want to continually subscribe to this idea then get out of precious metals. Only a fool would play a game that is completely rigged. As you still are in the game, I would say that you are not completely convinced of the manipulation ...

I am a Dunedin boy with Speights brewery right on my doorstep , yet i can't stand the stuff.
Used to love Bud weiser but think they must have changed it over the years, now the only beer id drink (if i went back to drinking) would be DB.

Ages ago when I lived in Japan I really loved Nama Biru 生ビール (beer on tap from a keg), most especially at an izakaya after work. It was not just the beer but the overall atmosphere.

Well you did pay $50 for a nip of scotch once before wink Before I tasted it definitely didn't think so but afterwards, definitely worth it.

Scotch can be an expensive hobby smile

Haven't had a beer thread for a while.

Just wondering what is the best available beer? Obviously Americans won't have much to contribute here. tongue

Suggestions?

Actually, the USA these days produces some of the best beers in the world. Not your mass produced rubbish, but it has some fantastic smaller breweries. They also aren't shackled to any particular style like a lot of European breweries are.

Go to slow beer and check some beers out. http://www.slowbeer.com.au

For a not too expensive stout (stouts are the king of beers as far as I'm concerned), 8 wired from NZ is particularly nice. smile

http://www.slowbeer.com.au/buy-beer/8-w … out-500ml/

Want to learn more about beers, look up rate beer

http://www.ratebeer.com/
Try typing in something like xxxx gold or corona or something like that, marvel at how low a beer can be rated!

Here's an example for VB -
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/victoria-bitter/7580/

There are some pretty funny reviews of beers, here's one persons take on Coors Light -

My back alley neighbour Juan -- ex child soldier from El Salvador -- handed this to me while he was giving me details about shooting people in the civil war in the 1980s & you're not going to say "sorry I only drink wine barrel aged saison that's been kissed by a hipster's beard" & live to rate the beer. And what a beer it is: sweet corn water dripping from furry arm pits on the nose, soggy cardboard on the tongue, & nary a hop to be found. If you hate the taste of beer & hate life & think telling stories about killing people is the best way to get to know your neighbour than this is your beer. Thanks for the beer share, Juan. Please don't kill me.

Re: What's the best beer?

Another Vote for Coopers Pale Ale/Sparkling. Aussie family owned and made and unless I am overseas I will support the remaining industry Australia has left.

Zierholz is my favourite local produce when in and around Canberra if you can get your hands on it, delicious German style beers Aussie beers.

http://www.zierholz.com.au/

Certainly won't go past a little creatures or a fat yak either... and james squires 'One fifty lashes' is good and tasty if you want to keep the alcohol content down (2 in first hour bizzo).
