Appears to be an issue between Optus and Vocus, the backbone provider that services the data centre Silver Stackers is hosted in. Whirlpool has a thread on current problems with Optus and speeds - looks like an Optus network issue for now. Beyond my control.
Unless made within the Gold Stackers subforum, my posts on Silver Stackers are either personal opinion or acting in the capacity of site administrator.

I also ran downforeveryoneorjustme.com.au and got "Down for everyone" @12:28 [I'm on Optus cable fwiw, Mac 10.6.8, Safari 5.1.5]
I have also noted much laggedness over the past several weeks - most of the time the site hums along but every now and then just stalls for a few minutes (say 10 mins max) then just zooms along again as if nothing happened.

Agreed. The website is really slow at times and even times out.
Whoever is hosting seems to be having issues GP. Still happening today

On the phone right now with Optus - the host is blaming network issues.
Starting to doubt it.

Can anyone who is having timeout issues confirm if they are NOT on the Optus network? Crucial to find out to help resolve this.

1) Go to Start (start button on the lower left of the desktop)
2) Choose 'Run'
3) Type: "cmd" (no quotes)
4) This should bring up a DOS prompt. Once there, type: tracert "website" (without quotes)
1st = you
2nd = provider

Dang - if it does that when we're quiet, what will you do when "silver goes to da moon" .... 
[Oops meant to say, I'm on Optus Naked via Internode and it's fast right now, tiny bit laggy earlier on today, but not causing me issues and hasn't been over the last few days. Maybe the server needs a reboot & a good flushing. I know that does me good sometimes ]

Currently slow again - support tickets raised with the host, I'm starting to think it's simply congestion on their servers, not specific to Silver Stackers.
