New Dragon - Privy Mark

Hi,

there is a new 2012 BU Dragon with a special privy mark. Mintage 200.000 pcs. Looks like PM want to destroy collectors market
with another kind of Dragons. Offered in Germany for 34,49  -  http://www.silber-corner.de/index.php?p … &info=1098

I think a lot of poeple that paid a lot of money for their Dragons could be angry about PM decision to blow the mintage. sad

Is that a Perth Mint applied privy mark or aftermarket?

Ugly the way the Perth Mint twists the truth, misleads and treats as fools its own customers.

Re: New Dragon - Privy Mark

I think it is a PM product. I can not imagine somebody has 200.000 pcs to destroy with this privy and sell it to a much lower price than a standard BU.

Given there is a mintage of 200,000 of them and the plain bullion version was 300,000, pretty sure its a Perth Mint effort.

Indeed hobo-jo did call it.  The privy is of a lion it seems.

Re: New Dragon - Privy Mark

Wow was not expecting a mintage of 200,000.

That's BS if accurate.

It could just be a typo... maybe it's only supposed to read 20,000... maybe

Re: New Dragon - Privy Mark

^^^ Guarantee their response will be either:

a) no response OR

b) something cryptic to add to their usual deception with something like "they are made on a mint to order basis with a final mintage released at the end of the series".

Isnt in chinese culture, lion represents the gatekeeper and the dragon means to be the strongest mythical creature?
So the pair matched?

If you cannot create a set with them, I would say .... No.

As someone who didn't get any 1oz dragons and went through absolute hell on earth, just to place an order for a now worthless rectangle dragon set. I couldn't give a flying fruit cake about dragon releases anymore.

Yeah but to buy these you are playing into the Perth Mints hands.  Pumping out extra coins that will not hold the premium like the 300k ones that make the set.  The 300k coins are the main game, all the rest are distractions for your money.

Re: New Dragon - Privy Mark

WOW I cant believe the perth mint would circumvent the 300,000 mintage on the 1 oz coins, these look pretty cool but that just seems somewhat dishonest to me . I hope they dont start playing all their fixed mintages this way. Why even have a fixed mintage.

Re: New Dragon - Privy Mark

Looks like the complete number of 200.000 pcs was made and bought by the German Landesbank "Bayern LB"
Made for german market. Bayern is a state in germany and has a lion in his flag. If that´s all true, i think they will
have a lot of work to sell all these dragons. :-) In my opinion it´s not worth to pay 1cent more premium than for a ASE.
