1/2oz, 2oz and 5oz Dragons are coming back!

From the Perth Mint:

A Limited Number Of Silver Bullion Dragon Coins To Be Released

The Perth Mint has today written to its distributors advising them that a limited stock of the Australian Lunar Series II 2012 Year of the Dragon Silver Bullion Series is available for release in 5oz, 2oz and 1/2oz sizes.

The distributor notification stated clearly "that only very limited quantities are currently available, therefore the stock will need to be allocated."

To be considered for an allocation, distributors are advised to place their indicative order on 1 March 2012. On receipt of all indicative orders, the Mint will confirm the quantity of coins available to each wholesale customer.

A limited stock of 5oz, 2oz and 1/2oz silver bullion Dagon coins will also be allocated for sale on http://www.perthmintbullion.com at this time

About time too!

I thought I was going to have to pay a premium on the secondary market for them, still might.  So why only a limited amount?  Surely if they are going to fire up the presses you'd think they would make it worth while

I wonder if that has something to do with nothing else being available...

Stick the Koala price up to $50 a coin and that'll slow demand.

How about 'Monster Boxes' of 10 * rolls of 10? Spot + 10%(+ /-)...sounds good to me big_smile

Re: 1/2oz, 2oz and 5oz Dragons are coming back!

Looking at the Mint's automated price system, a 2oz coin would be $81 and a 5oz $208 and a 1/2oz $22.

Re: 1/2oz, 2oz and 5oz Dragons are coming back!

Tell you what - if Gold Stackers gets any, they will be offered to SS members at that price through the website - we won't gouge. They are to be allocated however, dunno if we will get any seeing as we're a fairly new distributor. No idea what quantities are going to be made available in this release.

They will be available through Perth Mint's bullion website at the prevailing prices though.

Please don't ping me requesting to have coins set aside - mightn't get any.

Re: 1/2oz, 2oz and 5oz Dragons are coming back!

Hi,
Unfortunetly it doesnt matter where you are based, Allocations are purely base on your turnover and what you have ordered in the past of a similar product. sad.

I can confirm the 5oz,2oz and 1/2oz silver dragon coins are beening allocated and all orders are beening sent in the month of march hopefully. My guess is 60% goes overseas and 40% in australia. might be alot less one never knows what the perth mint does. I can only say that bullion allocations is not normally seen at the mint, as to my knowlege it is very rare that they would start allocating unlitmited mintage coins. Might be worth while picking up afew of them.

Re: 1/2oz, 2oz and 5oz Dragons are coming back!

I only wanted 1 of each but if they are going to be scarce..., surely we have up until September for these things to be minted, though I guess they have to start on the Snake to get them ready in time for a September(?) release.

How many more months of Dragon minting are there?

If there is no silver shortage then what is the hold up, they have nice new shiney minting machines don't they.

I would rather not get gouged on the price due to an artificial shortage if they are going to crank the machines up later in the year.

I can live without them I suppose...

Given they are subject to allocation - I doubt it.

Re: 1/2oz, 2oz and 5oz Dragons are coming back!

Same old story.  APMEX & friends get the lions share of the allocation and mark the price up sky high.  1oz are still $100 so the Perth Mint looks set to further their profiteering ways.

I just hope Bullion Bourse gets enough to fill the orders that they took back in September and early October.  It's been a looooong wait.

Well we got an allocation - going to have to limit the 2oz and 5oz coins to 1 per customer though!!! Lots of 1/2oz though so will be able to offer those in rolls. Hopefully other dealers that were around longer did a little better and get some supply going for members.

As promised, these will be made available to members at normal bullion prices until sold out - will be some time in March before they are available, we will put these up for sale once we can take our allocation up.

It seems perthmintbullion is out of 2oz dragons. Are they going to restock soon or was that it?

They don't seem to have marked them unavailable yet? Seems physical demand has eased a bit lately. ASE sales are off as well.
