well I had to get one seeing as I have every dragon so far that has been released here...keep him locked up for a year or 2 and see what happens ![]()
Having said that don't think I like what the Perth Mint are doing here, I completely agree with you.

True enough but with a it doesn't really matter.
I think it is with a mintage of "show case" only 5000. Just like their early colored coin with a mintage of 3800.

Any thoughts on the opal?
I think it looks nice...
Proof, Limited Mintage – 8,000
Presented in a prestigious display case, a light turns on as you open the case, highlighting the opal design and symbolising moonlight, shining down on the nocturnal koala.

The early colored lunar coins are not proof, mintage of 170,000, but only 3800 coins were packed in a case with COA. For the coins they are same, the only difference is the case.

... and the case (usually) does make a difference (in future value) ... Just look at the 2010 colored tiger (single coin vs with box and COA)

The Welsh dragon is available from Coin Club now.
Also, the Opal Koala is available from Coin Club and has a 2 coin limit rather than the 1 coin from Perth Mint.

Not only the first in the series, but the first in a DRAGON series. This one should be popular.

??? what do you mean "GP's link". So the Perth Site with their tracking is aware that SS is driving a bit of business their way? I didn't realise this occurred. Good for SS though in terms of credibility with Perth Mint.

Anyone think there might be another 8 of these coloured dragons released between now and sept '12

But then again this is the Perth Mint we're talking about...

Very famous last words ![]()
I just don't forsee anything increasing in value from the Perth Mint anymore.
They've totally over saturated this Dragon market with gimmicky crap.
They just slap a 5,000 mintage on and people buy it up like hotcakes.......

First Perth Mint Dragon release in a while that's caught my eye... I like the high relief kangaroos, the dragon could be a really nice coin.

I agree- PM really milking the dragon hype.
I see in March they will be releasing a 2012 1oz Year of the dragon high relief coin!
Anyways, I ordered the berlin dragon coin as well as the new dragon series coin. Hope they increase in value...

By the looks of the link below there will be a 5 ounce dragon as well and the opal series is "set" at 2 coins, the wombat to follow. I think this list goes upto 2014 but who knows if the PM have to stick to this list or not?!
