Hi Black Sun, wish I still have those bars; they are long gone.
All those stunning vintage 1oz Harrington poured bars was snapped up by a German collector. They don't hang around my store for very long. smile

Just a question though... if someone wants to sell one of these beauties... will you ask far more than the spot price? if yes, how much over/extra in percentage...

Can't give you a fixed percentage as premiums can vary depending on the desirability of a particular bar.
Premiums for bars are usually less than for coins.
A 1oz blob like this Johnson Matthey round would command less than $30 premium above spot.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Vintage Gold Bars.

Never seem to see these for sale though.  They are the way I would like to buy them.  They have character compared to the new Perth Mint offerings, which are just rectangle coins in my opinion.

Bring back the bars with low margins in my opinion.

You can have low margins and good looks!
Just buy Chinese gold bars.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Vintage Gold Bars.

Sadly I want my gold to look like this

gold%20ingot_middle.jpg
Source: http://www.onestoprecycler.com/images/p … middle.jpg

Anything else looks like a wafer or a blob.  I wonder what the smallest size these come in is.

Now stacking: World Junk Silver Coins.
Swap your older, worn, dirty fractional silver coins for fiat, .999 rounds or legal tender.
Individual coins, mixed lots or bulk.
Not looking for Australian, bent, holed or damaged coins, thanks!

If there are any Stackers here who can translate the Chinese characters on the reverse; it would be much appreciated.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Vintage Gold Bars.

Aurora et luna,

Only have only been able to have part of your bar translated today, however having a work colleague write down the full translation so should be able to post it up tomorrow.

The script on the left side going down the page per your picture states "Established 1848" and in regards to the script going left to right; one symbol means "Dragon" & another "Phoenix" then the writhing on the right hand side is making reference to a bank.

Hopefully this will keep you intrigued until I get the rest.

Supe.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Vintage Gold Bars.

A big thanks to Supedeloop for the translation of the Dragon & Phoenix bar.

Script at top of pic: Old Phoenix Gold Company

Down Left Side: Established 1848 yr. In brackets: Made in Ming Dynasty Era 28yrs

Across the middle: Dragon, Phoenix, Happiness

Right Side: Old Phoenix Gold Company

Across Bottom: Old Phoenix Gold Company 30g Gold

The middle with Dragon Phoenix Happiness, is a Chinese saying which is used to congratulate newly weds, and in the case of this bar it was most likely given to someone as a wedding gift
