Re: Useless Trivial facts

It's Fruitfly season. sad

One method of controlling fruitfly, is to pick-up any fallen fruit as soon as it drops.

Queensland Fruitfly larvae leave their fruity home when mature and then burrow into the soil to pupate.

If you pick-up any fallen fruit you may reduce the number of fruitfly next year. wink

Re: Useless Trivial facts

Poor people beating each other senseless has always been popular. Gloves make it more dangerous and were introduced for dramatic effect and to create more crowd pleasing knockouts.

Sugar Ray Robinson backed out of a fight because he had a dream that he was going to kill his opponent in the ring. After a priest and minister convinced Robinson to fight, Robinson went into the ring and killed his opponent.

Re: Useless Trivial facts

Based on Florida data:

- People with tattoos are more likely to commit crimes than people without; particularly theft, robbery and drug-related crimes.
- People with tattoos are less like to commit murder except if they have white supremacist, tear drop, three dots (between thumb and forefinger) or Latin Kings gang tattoos in which case they are more likely to be murderers.
- People with face tattoos are less likely to be jailed for robbery or murder, but are more likely to be jailed for drugs.
- People with Christian tattoos are less likely to be jailed for assault, robbery or murder, but are more likely to be jailed for theft or drugs.

Hobart INTERNATIONAL airport is 500 meters short for a jumbo jet to land.

But for $37 million they are going to extend it.....Thanks to Tony Abbott,  I think...

Re: Useless Trivial facts

Bureau Of Meteorology (BOM) Statistics 9AM - 9AM 24 hours "not" per day.

It rained on Thursday! But BOM statistics says it rained on Friday; here's why.

Rainfall has been recorded at 9am since observations began in 1900 (even earlier in some cases), for consistency, and continuity BOM maintain the same recording methods. This allows BOM to maintain an accurate historical record which can easily be analysed.

The 9am reporting time also allows us to collect a greater range of data. A lot of rainfall observations come from volunteer observers across the country. A 9am reporting time allows them to accurately report their rainfall, which they check manually, without needing to go outside in the middle of the night.

With a standardised work start time, a location that experiences sunset one hour earlier will experience, on average 5% more wages earned, than a location that has sunset one hour later.

(an argument against daylight saving - less sleep = less earnings)

Guys, If you like Coopers Sparkling Ale (Red label) a major seller "DM" have 24 stubby cartons for a very low price of $45.95; that's the cheapest price for over 12 months. The price is normally about $50 - $59

Re: Useless Trivial facts

Speaking of 'DM' ...

When in the champagne aisle, you will notice, that all the 'vintage' bottles are all dated 2008.

This is because the optimum drinking age for French Champagne is eight years.
