Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

It could be rare, but who really collects 1000+oz bars?

I don't think its possible to sell something like that over spot, but I could be wrong.

Where I am from, people will gladly give me old bars in exchange for a new, shiny ones of same weight and even add some money.

Yeah, my local bullion dealer had a bunch of second hand 1kg because they were cast and not minted, people thought they were "trading up" because it looked like the movies.

Latest vintage silver bar pickups, the Bear Paw Mining bars (Idaho) were made  70-100+ years ago, since these have the CWP logo in the lower lefthand corner they are considered 1st or 2nd generation bars.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

Here is a shot of my rare Harringtons - 1981 100oz, 1981 50oz, 1oz (presumably from the 80's), and some coaster's 75th anniversary since 1906 (so 1981 also).  Tested the coasters today with a PM verifier and passed on 90% pre 1900 US silver.

I was born in 1981 so a little sentimental and beautiful looking stuff in my opinion.

Enjoy smile

ps. Can't remember who I got the coasters off but I think they passed through ozcopper's hands at some stage...

Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

Got these two bars, don't know if they are keepers or not.

Argor Chiasso changed logo to Argor Heraeus in 1986, so the one on the right is at least 30 years old (plastic not original).

The one on the left is modern Argor Heraeus, it seems to be double struck (not sure if this is the right expression).

I can't stand to look at the one on the left too closely, it gives me a headache LOL.  Very nice bars, the one on the right is definitely a keeper and rarely found here in that size without paying a high premium.  The one on the left does turn up here periodically but not such a strange doublestruck example like yours.

Strange. Just saw those two bars pop up for sale on a US-based forum. What a coincidence. Anyway nice bars. Have always been a fan of kilo silver bars, especially the older poured one.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

Mine are not for sale, unless you mean bars just like mine.

If you could send me link to the sale, I'm interested for how much they will sell.

Oh I think it was for sale at 17 USD/oz. Didn't stay for long though. Quickly snapped up.

I may be able to dig information up on these, as I've seen them before and I vaguely recall some detailed information included back then.  Right now there is a listing of one of these on ebay by seller justliven16 FYI

Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

Thanks mate. The guy replied me that his kitkat bar was manufactured by Kingsmen Silver in 1970s.. but nothing else...a small difference to mine is the letter 'H' on the top left section (next to the weight)...

But no more details for me to dig up this refinery information....

Anyone seen one of these before in it's box (except the person I got out off? : )

Odd weight, 82 grams...

What about SBA, never seen one... Not saying they're rare, just never seen one.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

phrenzy I've only ever seen images of 100g ABC bars in the cases.

Could be a one size fits all for 100g and 70gram odd weight (with A stamped on the back) and 80g odd weight (guessing your one in the case has C stamped on back?).

Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

Yes with a single C, but not assuredly very close to 2.5 ounces add certainly not 3 and certainly not 100 grams, re weighing it this morning on a better surface gave me 80 even give or take. Very cool piece to have in it's box.

Re: Rare, Collectable and Old Fashion Silver Bar. II

That's a beautiful collection... That crown moulds crown looks like it's the SBA crown... Does anyone know anything about SBA the company or seen this 100g bar? Are they related to the crown moulds? In those small bars above?

SBA are based in Melbourne - they minted the SGB Series of Dissent, and I think also produced some of the Goldstackers XAG rounds.  Edit: yep, see http://forums.silverstackers.com/messag … ml#p570330

Exactly what I was after, so vintage but obviously a very cool ongoing concern!
