Re: Perth Mint Monthly Sales

"We haven't seen this type of demand since the 2008 financial crisis. Our business has doubled. We're racing to try to get as much stock out as we can," said Ron Currie, Perth Mint sales and marketing director.

Since a few days are left in the month of April, the Perth Mint doesn't have final sales figures yet, but Currie shared gold bar and coin sales for the first few months of this year to give an idea what "double" means. Coin sales in the first quarter of 2013 were 97,541 ounces, versus 65,538 ounces in 2012 at the time. The 2012 figure is lower due to unusually low sales in February. Total gold bar sales in the first three months of 2013 were 69,885 ounces, similar to last year's sales at that time, 69,517.

The average monthly sales figure for the coins in the first three months of 2013 are about 32,513 ounces and the average monthly sales figures for the bars are 23,295 ounces.

Total gold ounces sold at the Perth Mint, which includes coins and bars, were 86,983.54 ounces in May, compared to 111,505.06 in April, the Perth Mint said on its website. April's sales were a record, they said.

Total silver ounces sold at the Perth Mint in May were 587,454.82 ounces, compared to 1.1 million ounces in April.

Even though May gold sales slipped from April's record, last month's sales are nearly triple pace set in May 2012, which were 30,387.88 ounces.

Re: Perth Mint Monthly Sales

Since the (free) fall in gold prices, demand from investors and bargain hunters is astonishing. While the spot price for gold and silver are still low, premiums are still quite high. I stick to the bullion variety so that I get more metal for my money, and save on those BIG premiums. Just keep stacking, and stacking and stacking on the dips.

Anything is possible, but not everything is probable.  wink

Manipulation..... If you want to continually subscribe to this idea then get out of precious metals. Only a fool would play a game that is completely rigged. As you still are in the game, I would say that you are not completely convinced of the manipulation ...

Re: Perth Mint Monthly Sales

As there has been opposing views, has there been any further clarity on the supply/demand situation?

A late reply: check the above linked thread. Apparently this topic reflected reality more than that 'opposing view' other topic.
