Classification question

Is almost Very Fine really just a note in Fine condition, but a high quality specimen?

Yes.

Another way of describing it would be "Fine+" (but "aVF" is a much more optimistic way of looking at it).

It's almost Very Fine when the dealer sells it, but Fine+ when you sell it to a dealer.

Re: Classification question

Ok here's another one. I remember reading something about pin holes but I can't find it any more.

I am currently reading the description of a banknote and it says:

Two pin holes, otherwise fine.

So does that mean if it didn't have pinholes it would be fine, or, it's got pinholes but it is still graded as fine?

Re: Classification question

It is a damged note, but besides the damage it is fine!

Should be re-rated!

The pin holes reduce the value of an otherwise fine note!
