Re: What's the best beer?

The best beer in the whole world is................

Wine. Preferably a New Zealand Pinot Gris, just slightly chilled.

As you were.

Had a taste test thanks to the landlord, stubby divided by maybe 4? peeps?

Re: What's the best beer?

Fixation IPA.

Reasonably hoppy @ 65 IBU's but the balance is near perfect. The hops are dominant.

Had a few of these before but after spending the day mowing lawns and getting the chili plants in order, possibly the ultimate Spring drop.

The label states - It's clean, hop - driven, piney, citrusy, fresh, bold, bitter, big yet balanced.

Tagline - Life is Short, Drink fresh.

Clean = 95/100

Hop driven = 80/100

Piney = piney and earthy. I've had overly piney beers before but this isn't one of them.

Citrus = it is but not Coopers citrus/fruity (thank god). 70/100

Fresh = 100/100

Bold = 50/100

Bitter = see Hop driven

Big yet balanced = Big 70/100, Balanced 100/100

Tagline = Pretty much nailed it.

Enjoy

Never got the 'life is short' saying... It's the longest thing anyone does and most spend around 80 years doing it neutral

Mornington Peninsula Brewery Dog's Bollocks. This is a great little beer, if you're a Kilkenny or Guiness fan you'll appreciate the flavour and the micro-carbonation that comes from a nitro beer.

Re: What's the best beer?

I haven't developed a taste for fruit beers yet so my selection tomorrow is concerning me. I hope I like it, Mango and chilli, at 10% A/V that's an awful lot of standard drinks in one oversized stubby to waste. hmm

How'd you go with the mango beer? Matsos is by far the best and seeing it more and more places these days. Perfect for a sunny summer arvo smile

I actually didn't mind it, took me ages to drink it and I was a bit of a mess afterwards but as it warmed, I enjoyed it more. But at over $35/stubby I'll pass.

I haven't had the matso's mango beer, had their lychee and thought it was good, but as i said, my palate hasn't developed enough to thoroughly enjoy fruit beers. Had their Chilli beer and tipped it down the sink after one mouthful - and i like hot chillis!

Re: What's the best beer?

Mmmmmm....Ten Fidy. Wow, wow, wow and wow again. When I win Lotto, I'm going to drink a can of this every week. This beer is why true stout drinkers consider the Guinness we have here in Australia to be nothing but weak, watery piss.

753_imag0292.jpg

Russian Imperial Stout.

ABV: 10.5%

Notes / Commercial Description:
This titanic, immensely viscous stout is loaded with inimitable flavors of chocolate-covered caramel and coffee and hide a hefty 98 IBUs underneath the smooth blanket of malt. It is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops.

@Big A.D. You had this one mate?

Edit to add: @bordie, new word for you, "cancupiscent". Lust in a can? tongue
